This guide is relevant to the new Remote Desktop UWP app that is installed via the Microsoft store. These steps are different when using the built-in RDP client (mstsc.exe) for Windows 10. RemoteApp programs are programs that are accessed remotely through a special type of Remote Desktop Connection, and appear as if they are running on the end user’s local computer.
RemoteApp Programs are programs that you give to your users so they can remotely launch applications on the server and appear to be on their computer.
In this article we will discuss how to properly provision a new program or application for your users so they can see it in the Remote Web App portal. To be done correctly, please follow the instructions in this article.

Installing the Program the Right Way
- On the server, go to Control Panel –> Programs
- Click on 'Install Application on Remote Desktop'
- Click Next
- Click on Browse
- Select the installation file. Remember this is not the actual installed program, this is the installation file to the program often MSI or EXE extension.
- Proceed with the wizard and install. When the installation has ended (successfully or not). Please click finish button or the Cancel button. DO NOT CLCK THE BUTTONS BEFRE INSTALLATION HAS ENDED!

Publishing the RemoteApp Program
To publish the remote app program to show up in the browser in the Web App follow those steps. You must be an administrator to complete this.
- On the server, launch 'server manager' (you can click on start –> start typing server manager' if you can’t find it easily.
- On the left, click on 'Remote Desktop Services'
- Click on the collection you want. Often times it’s Quick Session Collection, then click Tasks under REMOTEAPP Programs –> Publish RemoteAPP Program
- From the list, select the program you wish to publish.
- Proceed with the wizard until completion.
Now you can test that the app is properly published and accessible by logging into your Web App Portal.

Set up the PC you want to connect to so it allows remote connections:
